Government Affairs & Strategic Operations · Former Elected Official
I founded More Than Funds to do what most consultants only advise on: actually lead the work. My practice focuses on three kinds of engagements — government affairs and public sector strategy, executive facilitation and strategic planning, and fractional or interim executive leadership. Each draws on the same underlying capability: helping leaders and organizations navigate complex environments, align stakeholders, and move important work forward.
As a former Centennial City Councilmember (2022-2025) and 2024 Colorado State Senate candidate, I bring inside-the-arena political experience most consultants don't have — a seat at the dais, a name on the ballot, and direct fluency in how municipal, regional, and state government actually work. As a longtime facilitator for enterprise clients, I bring the cross-functional strategic chops that complex initiatives require. Across 25 years of senior leadership, I've also launched start-ups, run multi-unit small businesses, served as a senior nonprofit executive, led the turnaround of a struggling institutional program, and raised meaningful capital for organizations I believed in.
Whether I'm advising a municipality through a regulatory fight, facilitating a strategic planning cycle for an enterprise team, or serving as a Fractional Chief of Staff or Interim Executive Director, the approach is the same: structured preparation, clear communication, and a real interest in the people I'm working with.
What I Believe About Leadership Work
Most organizations don't fail for lack of strategy. They fail for lack of execution — the unglamorous, daily, cross-functional work of moving a vision from a board deck to a closed deal, a launched program, or a finished campaign. That's the work I'm built for. I'm a thinker who genuinely loves the doing.
I'm also a believer in fit. I take on a small number of engagements at a time because depth matters more than volume in this work. If the chemistry isn't right between us — or if I'm not the right person for what you actually need — I'll tell you, and I'll help you find who is. That's not modesty; it's the only way fractional leadership can be done well.
A Little About How I'm Wired
I'm an ENTJ on Myers-Briggs and a 3 on the Enneagram. CliftonStrengths says my top five are Self-Assurance, Strategic, Achiever, Activator, and Relator — which translates to: I move fast, I think systematically, I show up, I start things, and I genuinely care about the people I'm working alongside. The combination is why I do this work, and it's also why my clients tend to become long-term collaborators rather than one-time engagements.
Beyond the Work
I grew up in the Dutch community of Northwest Iowa, where work ethic and direct communication were inherited like recipes. I now live in Centennial, Colorado, with my husband, two sons, and Samson — our 79-pound rescue and my favorite running partner. Outside of More Than Funds, I'm also a licensed Realtor with Keller Williams Realty DTC, a Zillow Premier Agent, and part of a "Best of Zillow"–rated team.
Let's Talk.
If you're a founder, CEO, Executive Director, or organizational leader navigating growth, transition, or a complex initiative — and you're looking for someone who'll do the work alongside you, not just advise from the side — I'd love to hear what you're working on. Or — coffee. Always coffee.
